Tony Hearder - Director

         Tony has been involved with the marine industry since a very early age and began his shipbuilding apprenticeship at Halvorsens in Sydney. He gained his Shipwright and later Naval Architecture Certificate. Tony is a very familiar face around the waterways of NSW. He races yachts at a high level both internationally and on Sydney Harbour.

John Messenger - Managing Director

          Directly descended from the famous Messenger family, John has spent his life on or near the water. From a boat shed in Rushcutters Bay to management of the family marine centre in Sylvania, John has shaped many young sailors' career. John has been an independent assessor for 22 years and in that time has trained assessors and salvage teams worldwide.

          Taking an active role in the management of Sydney's sailing future, John's experience and options are highly sought after in all aspects of the boating industry. John is a sailor of repute competing in many major events with success.

John Box - Senior Consultant

          John is a Naval Architect and has been with Marinassess since its inception. His previous 10 years in engineering and now 20 years in the marine industry, has given him a mechanical and engineering bias that has made him an invaluable member of the team at Marinassess. John commands considerable expertise and knowledge of marine petrol, diesel and outboard motors, generators and pumping systems. John's young family are now the recipient of his sailing knowledge as he races around the water ways of Sydney and Pittwater.

Sven Runow

          Sven has a long attachment with the Sydney boating scene. In 1984 he commenced the Ship & Boatbuilding apprenticeship under the guidance of his father at D & R Shipwrights located at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. Sven specialises in wooden boat restoration and is renowned in the Sydney area for his attention to detail and craftsmanship in all aspects of the boatbuilding and shipwright industries. Sven is also a well-known yachtsman on the racing circuit. His credits include representing his country in 1988 as well as regular positions on Windward Passage II, Exile, Bumblebee 5, and has completed 14 Sydney Hobart Yacht races. After joining Marinassess in 2000, he has completed the Small Craft Surveyor course at TAFE and has enjoyed considerable success in a brief time, already enjoying a reputation for providing a quality surveying and loss adjusting service.
